Stardew Valley Farm Tools Guide
Farm tools guide for upgrade order, Blacksmith costs, Axe, Pickaxe, Hoe, Watering Can, Trash Can, Fishing Rods, Pans, Scythes, enchantments, and mastery tools.
Quick facts
Blacksmith tool upgrades take two days and must proceed in material order: Copper, Steel, Gold, then Iridium.
Axe, Pickaxe, Hoe, Watering Can, Pans, and Fishing Rods can receive Forge enchantments in late game.
Version 1.6 added upgraded Pans and the Advanced Iridium Rod and Iridium Scythe through Mastery routes.
Upgrade order
A strong upgrade route removes the current bottleneck without breaking tomorrow's chores. Pickaxe and Axe usually create the biggest early snowball, while Watering Can timing depends on rain, sprinklers, and crop deadlines.
- Pickaxe feeds ore, bars, sprinklers, and more upgrades.
- Steel Axe opens large logs and hardwood routes.
- Watering Can should be handed in before rain, Winter, or low-crop days.
Late-game tools
After the early tool ladder, tools become routing and completion assets. Fishing rods support legendary fish, pans support ore and artifact routes, and Mastery tools change large-scale farming.
- Advanced Iridium Rod supports bait and two tackle slots after Fishing Mastery.
- Iridium Scythe can harvest any crop after Farming Mastery.
- Tool enchantments are expensive, so reroll only when the tool is used often.
