Stardew Valley 1.6 Guide
Version 1.6 route hub for Mastery, Bookseller, books, new festivals, Green Rain, Meadowlands Farm, Mystery Boxes, Giant Stump, Raccoon requests, and new equipment.
Quick facts
Stardew Valley 1.6 added new festivals, Mastery, Meadowlands Farm, books, Mystery Boxes, and multiple new route systems.
The Desert Festival requires Bus access, while Trout Derby and SquidFest are mini fishing festivals where normal time continues.
The Mastery Cave opens after reaching level 10 in all five skills and adds a new late-game progression layer.
What changes your route
The biggest 1.6 changes are not isolated collectibles. Mastery, books, Green Rain, the Bookseller, and Mystery Boxes all alter how a save spends time after the early game.
- Check the Bookseller's calendar dates every season before spending all cash.
- Treat Green Rain as a Moss, seed, and Foraging XP opportunity rather than an ordinary rain day.
- Use Mystery Boxes, Prize Tickets, and festival rewards as a secondary progression economy.
Year-one pressure points
Desert Festival can only matter if the Bus is repaired before Spring 15, while Trout Derby and SquidFest reward fishing investment even in saves that are not fishing-focused.
- If aiming for early Desert Festival, prioritize Vault money or Joja Bus timing.
- Save fishing food and tackle for Trout Derby and SquidFest target days.
- For Meadowlands Farm, animal care and blue grass shape the opening economy.
