Stardew Valley Mastery Cave

Mastery Cave guide for unlocking the 1.6 mastery system, mastery point costs, Farming, Mining, Foraging, Fishing, and Combat mastery rewards, and completion routing.

Quick facts

The Mastery Cave opens in Cindersap Forest after the player reaches level 10 in all five skills.
Mastery points come from excess skill XP after all skills are level 10, and masteries can be claimed in any order.
All five masteries together require 100,000 mastery points.

Unlock and point rhythm

Mastery begins only after the skill ladder is complete. Once all five skills are level 10, every useful XP loop becomes a shared mastery-point route rather than a single-skill route.

  • The five mastery levels cost 10,000, 15,000, 20,000, 25,000, and 30,000 points.
  • Farming XP contributes differently than other skill XP under current 1.6 rules.
  • You can bank mastery points before claiming a pillar, so choose based on the reward that changes the save most.

Choosing first masteries

The best first mastery depends on the current bottleneck. Farming changes harvest scale, Fishing changes difficult catch routing, Combat opens trinkets, Mining improves resource loops, and Foraging increases outdoor treasure pressure.

  • Pick Fishing before legendary fish cleanup or difficult collection pushes.
  • Pick Combat before serious trinket farming, Anvil rerolls, or home Mini-Forge planning.
  • Pick Farming or Mining when the farm needs more daily output, bars, gems, or processing scale.
