Stardew Valley Advanced Iridium Rod

Advanced Iridium Rod guide for Fishing Mastery, Mastery Cave unlock, Fish Shop 25,000g purchase, bait plus two tackle slots, Challenge Bait, Golden Fishing Treasure Chests, tackle stacking, legendary fish, fishing festivals, Fish Frenzies, and treasure routes.

Quick facts

Advanced Iridium Rod is obtained from Fishing Mastery, and extra rods can later be bought from Willy's Fish Shop for 25,000g.
It can equip bait and two tackles at once; most tackle effects stack, but two Sonar Bobbers or two Curiosity Lures do not add extra benefit.
Fishing Mastery also unlocks Challenge Bait and Golden Fishing Treasure Chests, making the rod a late-game route hub.

Build around the second tackle

The second tackle slot is the reason the rod changes fishing routes. It can combine control, bite speed, quality, treasure, or identification instead of forcing one goal per cast.

  • Use Cork Bobber plus Trap Bobber for hard fish and Challenge Bait practice.
  • Use Treasure Hunter plus Magnet or Pirate routes when Golden Fishing Treasure Chests are the target.
  • Use Quality Bobber plus control when iridium-quality fish or sale value matters.

Match bait to the day

The rod still needs the right bait decision. Challenge Bait rewards perfect catches, Targeted Bait narrows active fish pools, Deluxe Bait is comfort, and Magnet supports treasure routes.

  • Use Challenge Bait on fish you can keep inside the bar.
  • Use Targeted Bait after confirming season, weather, time, and location.
  • Use Magic Bait only when normal fish windows are the blocker.
